Liz Holland

English Teacher

Bachelor's @ Boston College, Masters @ Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health

Liz is a passionate educator with diverse experiences in the classroom and in the fields of public health and research.

Liz attended Boston College, where she double majored in both history and philosophy graduating cum laude with honors. After college, she lived in East Africa and found a passion for public health that led her to the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where she received a Master in Health Science degree. After a number of years working at non-profits focused on maternal and child health, she made the switch to education in 2012.

Most recently, a teacher at Rocky Hill Country Day School, Liz was viewed as a leader in curricula development, lesson planning and differentiated instruction. She employs inquiry-based learning methods and draws on her vast experiences in health and sciences to provide project-based and experiential learning opportunities for her students. As a former supplemental instruction leader for the Student Success Center at the Community College of Baltimore County, Liz developed a keen understanding of the power a small classroom learning environment has on the potential of its students. While tackling subjects such as biology, anatomy, physiology, current events, Liz has also served as a student advisor well versed in the principles of social-emotional learning, and as a resource for LGBTQ+ students and their families.

Over the summer, Liz made the move to Vermont with her family and pack of rescue pets. In her spare time, you’ll find her cheering on her four kids at their various activities and exploring her new home state!
