Golf tournament draws record-high number of participants

Chris Bianchi

With the highest number of players since the tournament was “resurrected” after Hurricane Irene, this year’s KSC/KMS Golf Tournament was a great success. 62 players hit the links, a number that included 13 KMS students who were happy to get outside and have some fun with KSC/KMS parents, alumni, staff, and friends.

KSC/KMS Development Programs and Events Coordinator Alexis Voutas stated that the weather was “absolutely perfect” and that she loved seeing all the carts hitting the course as the shotgun blew.

Rick and Colleen Morrison came back to play after a several year hiatus. Head of School Tao Smith commented, “For 20 years Rick and his vast group of friends were a tremendous support of the tournament, loyally attending year after year. It was so great to have them back!”

The field was strong, and quite a few were well in contention for victory. In an exciting last minute twist, the organizers decided to give Net and Gross awards for the following teams:

1st Place Gross – Greg Hadley, Gar Trayner, Bryan Gras, Steve Richards 2nd place Gross – Steve Dispenza, Marc Adami, Doug Burcin, and Sneaky Pete

1st place Net – Eric Kuntz, Devin Gulick, Pete DuBois, Alex Denny 2nd place Net – Rick Morrison, Colleen Morrison, Richard Kinder, and Brad Kinder

Many thanks to all those who attended and supported the tournament and a special thank you to our volunteers, Kim Burcin, Meredith Voutas, Santina Ferri and Beth Castellini.
