Stepping up for gold at Stratton
Killington Mountain School Snowboard Program Director Jeff Juneau checked in with a recap of the weekend's events, which included several podium slots, personal bests, and a whole lot of fun. Juneau shared, "It was a busy and productive weekend of racing for our KMS and KSC athletes at Stratton Mountain. We had five academy athletes along with two KSC skiers and one future BOOST athlete racing both days. In addition, we were joined on Sunday by Megan and Owen Ciaglo from our KSC Freeski program on Sunday for their first SkiCross race! The team rode well, and stacked some serious results. Ben Smith continued to dominate the series earning a Gold and Silver, while first-year KMS athlete Tye McBroom had a breakthrough performance earning his first Southern VT podium with Silver and Bronze. Liam Scott and Logan Plourde continued to improve their riding and results by both making finals but just missing the podium. Henry Wilson had strong runs both days and is showing impressive speed. KSC Freeski athletes Abigail and Eleanor Andrews earned podium spot both days, with Eleanor pulling off Gold on Sunday! Sunday also brought first time KSC SkiCross racers Owen and Megan Ciaglo to Stratton where they earned Gold and Silver. Future KMS BOOST athlete Django McBroom earned Bronze on Sunday. Django is the younger brother of KMS athlete Tye McBroom, and it was a cool moment for them to both earn podium finishes on Sunday! Next up for the team is the “Holeshot” NorAm event at Sunday River next week."
Best of luck to all the athletes and congratulations on a job well done!
