School is in Session!

We have successfully finished our first week of classes and wrapped up our student orientation. The week was full of reunions, activities and settling into the new “normal.” Our students have done an excellent job embracing our COVID-19 safety procedures and have taken personal responsibility for protecting their opportunity to be here in person this fall. With a good foundation in place, we must remain vigilant and continue our safe return to academics and athletics.

Orientation

Our faculty and student life staff organized a wonderful orientation program despite COVID-19 restrictions. We began the week with some field games and team building. Each student then chose an afternoon activity including playing 18 at Killington; paddle boarding on a local reservoir and rappelling into the Pittsford Ice Caves. The abundance of fun we have to discover in our own backyard will keep our students fueled throughout the fall.

Academics

KMS faculty and students are off and doing what they do best in newly fashioned and socially distant classrooms. We have also expanded our outdoor space with tents, picnic tables and Richard Morse’s ever-popular forest structures!

Athletics

Many of our teams have started their physical testing and continue their training in the Killington playground. Action sports teams continue to launch at the bag and our cycling team is finally back together. Apline keeps working in the gym and our downhill team has left the nest again to compete. Pictured below, Matt Krimmel ‘22 securing his first win at the Blue Mountain Eastern Cup. The team brought home multiple podium finishes and showed strong improvement all around.

Annual Fund

KMS depends on your Annual Fund contributions to keep our students going in their uncompromising pursuit of excellence in athletics and academics. Our need this year remains great with the increased cost of safely operating during this pandemic. Unfortunately, in-person fundraising events are not advised at this time. A gathering of our extended community could jeapordize our in-person operations and that is not a risk we can tolerate right now. For this reason, KMS will not be hosting our annual golf tournament. We are holding out hope for the KMS/KSC auction and will know more as we approach the season. Thank you for your understanding and steadfast support of KMS.

Stay tuned for Annual Fund giving opportunites and get ready to propel our KMS Black Bears to the next level!

Killington is Opening!

Though the Killington World Cup has been cancelled, Killington Resort has announced the first details about their winter operations. KMS is in close contact with Killington's President and General Manager Mike Solimano and is looking forward to partnering with the resort as our athletes train this winter.
