Black Bear Community Award- Golf Tournament Edition!

Please join the KMS community in its recognition of several of our students this week for our Black Bear Community Award! The Black Bear Community Award is given by the KMS faculty, who recognizes those within our community who go above and beyond to benefit the many different demographics within our school. These individuals selflessly dedicate their time and energy to stepping forward to better our community without any expectation of recognition or reward. We continue to be incredibly grateful as well as humbled by the level of selfless commitment that many of our community members show on a daily basis. Their selflessness and willingness to contribute positively fosters an environment where all may live up to their fullest potential, strive for excellence as well as personal and professional growth, and to provide for all the unique opportunities that differentiate KMS from other education and athletic institutions.

Let’s give the following individuals a HUGE round of applause to show our continued appreciation for what they have done, and continue to do, for our community:

The first individual we recognize this week is Ty Davis. Ty is a Full-Term Downhill Mountain Biking athlete, who comes to KMS from Victor, New York. Ty was recognized by our Director of Development Robin Debiase for his assistance in creating cooler bags, which were given out during KMS’ annual golf tournament last Friday. Ty stepped forward and offered his free time to help Robin stuff 110 of these bags with candy and other prizes, an endeavor that would have taken much longer if Robin was to do this on her own. Ty’s enthusiasm to help, plus his dedication towards doing a great job made a definite impact. Thank you, Ty!

The second recognition this week goes to Sam Abelson and Drew Kelly. Sam is a Full-Term Freeski athlete, who comes to KMS from Wenham, Mass. Drew Kelly is a Full-Term Snowboard athlete, who comes to KMS from Portland, Connecticut. Both young men volunteered to oversee Hole 18 during the tournament, specifically to help those participating in this event with our air cannon. Those who were able to interact with these two young men appreciated their good natured humor and attitudes, as well as their commitment towards bringing some unique fun to the day’s activities. Great work, guys!

The third recognition goes to Evelyn Perkins, Eden Kruger, Ashley Peterson, and Ruby Keefe. Each of these young ladies are Full-Term Freestyle athletes, who come to KMS from Vermont, New York, and Massachusetts respectively. Affectionately called the “Dream Team of Registration”, this group was instrumental in helping with the early morning registration process of our tournament. Their high energy as well as eagerness to interact with all our participants aided in not only a smooth registration process, but also aided in the selling of over $6k worth of VIP tickets for KMS! Amazing work, ladies!

The fourth recognition goes to Aleksa Lalic. Aleksa is a Full-Term Alpine athlete, who comes to KMS from Serbia. Continuing to be a powerhouse of student leadership and commitment for our community, Aleksa stepped forward on Friday to work closely with Robin Debiase throughout the full day, aiding in selling over $1k work of raffle tickets, setting up as well as breaking down all tents and tables, and ended the day handing out raffle prizes where he enthusiastically interacted with many of our community members. He dedicated 12 hours that day, leaving KMS at 645 am and only returning at 7pm when all was done. Thank you for being an incredible team player, Aleksa!

Lastly, we would like to end our recognitions with a shoutout to our U18 Men’s Alpine crew. This team was instrumental in helping Robin load up as well as unload all the materials needed for this event at our local golf clubhouse. This was a tremendous help to those organizing the event and helped make that morning more efficient for those on the ground. Thank you, gentlemen!

Overall, not only was this year’s golf tournament a success, but it was also a great day for our community to shine! Thank you to all of those who have been recognized- you continue to make us proud with your commitment to our community!

It's truly inspiring to see the dedication and hard work that each of you brings to the KMS community. As the snake grows longer, snake game becomes more challenging as it becomes harder to maneuver without running into obstacles
