Black Bear Community Award: Ty Davis

Please join the KMS community in recognizing this week’s Black Bear Community Award! The Black Bear Community Award is presented by KMS faculty to individuals who go above and beyond to benefit the many different groups within our school. These individuals selflessly dedicate their time and energy to bettering our community without any expectation of recognition or reward. We continue to be incredibly grateful for the level of selfless commitment shown by so many within our community. Their actions help foster an environment where all can reach their fullest potential, strive for excellence, and enjoy the unique opportunities that set KMS apart from other educational and athletic institutions.

This week’s award goes to Junior Ty Davis! Ty is a Full-Term Downhill Mountain Biking athlete from Victor, New York. He received several nominations from our faculty, each recognizing his strong character, positive attitude, authentic gratitude, and continued contributions to our school community. Through both action and word, Ty embodies the KMS Mission and its values—respect, integrity, leadership, excellence, and responsibility. Whether stepping forward to offer assistance when someone is struggling or uplifting others who are feeling down, Ty is always ready to offer positive encouragement, support, and help to both students and faculty alike.

One recent example of Ty’s selflessness occurred after a tramp room session. Noticing that the student kitchen clean-up crew was short-staffed due to travel, Ty immediately volunteered to help with after-dinner cleanup. He did so without prompting from any faculty member, with the positive, thoughtful attitude of someone who understands the importance of stepping up when the community needs it. This is just one of many instances where Ty has demonstrated his "where can I help?" attitude.

Ty continues to be an incredible asset to our community, and his presence makes KMS a better place. We are lucky to have him with us!
